Calnic

The architectural monument of Calnic, the peasant fortress, which was built in 13th century, is one of the most representative defensive constructions erected in Transilvania during middle ages. The impressive fortress with high walls and guarding towers withstood the hardship of history for many centuries. The Siegfried tower, the land mark of the fortress, erected in its middle as the last retreating point, is five stories high and is endowed with defensive corridors and firing windows.
